Newsletter satellite phone, December 2009

December 2009: purchase of a satellite phone from a donation of MIVA Foundation. The phone is bought in the Netherlands and exported to Ecuador. With some difficulties in customs duties we ultimately did not pay much.

There is no phone in Sarayaku. The satellite phone helps to call the village of Shell for sending a small, free plane of "Wings of Hope.

This is necessary in medical necessity: complicated births, gashes, snake bites and deep wounds caused by machetes.

The phone will be in March in Sarayaku.
