The women of the village Sarayaku make bracelets, necklaces, earrings and dream catchers of seeds out of the jungle. In this way they get an income to give their children a good education and to obtain a stronger position.

Besides the Kichua Amazon women make ceramic bowls used to drink the ‘chicha’ (beer made of yucca/cassave) out of it. A custom for young and old to give energy and food supplies.

“Ceramics is only made by the Kichua Amazon women. The men are not allowed to touch the clay from the river. They believe that the man can’t get an erection anymore. By hand a bowl is made without help of a pottery wheel. The bowl is laid in the open air to dry and finally polished with a stone out of the river. Special riverstones are pulverized with a mortar and diluted with water. Then the bowl is painted with a paintbrush, made by the hair of the women and baked above the fire. A layer of sealing wax goes around it with a piece of resin of a tree.”

The Foundation wants to maintain their culture by stimulating the sellings of ceramics and the jewelry of seeds made of natural materials out of the jungle. Payment is by a fair trade price.

The benefits wll be used for a new or already existed project.

The most important thing is that the people of the Foundation need to work with and on the projects. In this way they get theirselves income.

Do you want more of a certain jewel? Do you want a jewel made by measure? Just let us know! Be aware it has to be made specially and that it can take a week.

We have a big stock of the beads. Every (seed) bead has its season though. It might mean we can’t deliver some seeds.

Ceramics will be packed in foam and in a box filled up with paper so that it can’t move.
